I've been so busy lately I haven't really had a chance to dive into my book and kindle piles, and thus I haven't had a chance to read something reaaallly good and recommend to you. BUT that doesn't mean I've stopped downloading and buying books lol. I download and buy them in the hopes of one day getting to crack open their paper or digital pages.
So... here's a couple of books I've bought recently that I'm looking forward to curling up with...
The Sea of Tranquility by Katja Millay
Full of rage and
without a purpose, former pianist Nastya Kashnikov wants two things: to
get through high school without anyone discovering her past and to make
the boy who took everything from her pay.
All 17 year-old Josh
Bennett wants is to build furniture and be left alone, and everyone
allows it because it’s easier to pretend he doesn’t exist. When your
name is synonymous with death, everyone tends to give you your space.
Everyone
except Nastya, a hot mess of a girl who starts showing up and won’t go
away until she’s insinuated herself into every aspect of his life. The
more he gets to know her, the more of a mystery she becomes. As their
relationship intensifies and the unanswered questions begin to pile up,
he starts to wonder if he may ever learn the secrets she’s been hiding
or if he even wants to.
Unlikely Allies by Tiffany King
Eighteen-year-old
Kimberly gets the shock of her life when she learns the father she
thought was dead is not only very much alive, but never even knew she
existed. Angry with her mother for lying all these years, Kimberly flies
to Colorado to meet the father she knows nothing about before heading
off to college in the fall.
Her father’s world turns out to be
nothing like she expected. Rather than the typical nine to five
lifestyle, Kimberly’s father runs a summer foster camp that teaches
young children skills to build their confidence and self-esteem. The
Colorado Rocky Mountains are a different world than the sunny shores of
California, taking Kimberly completely out of her element, and causing
her to second-guess her spur of the moment decision.
Never being
one to quit anything, Kimberly is determined to show her father that a
surfer girl can fit into this rugged mountain wilderness. That is if she
can deal with Mason, an arrogant nineteen-year-old guy who has made it
his mission to point out every mistake she has made since her arrival.
While she would love nothing more than to rub it in his know-it-all
face, Kimberly can’t deny the feelings he stirs up inside her, or the
chemistry between them, even during their verbal assaults.
When a
tragic accident leaves them stranded in the mountains, Kimberly must
use her shaky skills to save Mason and survive the elements. Suddenly,
fighting is the last thing on their minds as they must rely on each
other if they want to live. In their struggle for survival, they realize
what they thought they knew about each other isn’t true after all.
Down to You by M. Leighton
Genre: Adult Contemporary Romance- Please be advised that this book is NOT YA friendly, not even in a New Adult category!
The scorching tale of one girl, two brothers and a love triangle…that’s not.
Olivia
Townsend is nothing special. She’s just a girl working her way through
college so she can return home to help her father run his business.
She’s determined not to be the second woman in his life to abandon him,
even if it means putting her own life on hold. To Olivia, it’s clear
what she must do. Plain and simple. Black and white.
But clear becomes complicated when she meets Cash and Nash Davenport. They’re brothers. Twins.
Cash
is everything she’s always wanted in a guy. He’s a dangerous, sexy bad
boy who wants her in his bed at any cost. He turns her insides to mush
and, with just one kiss, makes her forget why he’s no good for her.
Nash
is everything she’s ever needed in a guy. He’s successful, responsible
and intensely passionate. But he’s taken. Very taken, by none other
than Marissa, Liv’s rich, beautiful cousin. That doesn’t stop Olivia
from melting every time he looks at her, though. With just one touch,
he makes her forget why they can never be together.
Black and
white turns to shades of gray when Olivia discovers the boys are hiding
something, something that should make her run as far and as fast as she
can. But it’s too late to run. Olivia’s already involved. And in
love. With both of them.
Both brothers make her heart tremble. Both brothers set her body on fire.
She wants them both.
And they want her.
How will she ever choose between them?
Shallow (A Going Under Novel #2) by Georgia Cates
Payton Archer's best friend, Claire, strives to be perfect in every way. Payton doesn't and this is her story.
Nick
Hawke likes his car fast and his girls even faster. He blows through
females quicker than his muscle car races down the "The Strip" in
Collinsville and he wouldn’t have it any other way. Determined to avoid
the devastation he has watched his father endure in the aftermath of his
mother leaving, he believes there is no room in his life or his heart
for a relationship lasting more than one night. He seeks happiness in
things that won’t let him down...fast cars, adrenaline and one night
stands. To his absolute dismay, all of that changes when he unexpectedly
runs into an old friend and is introduced to Payton Archer, the first
girl he ever wanted for more than one night. There’s only one
catch...she is completely immune to him and his smooth talking ways.
Payton
Archer is looking for what Claire has with Jessie, but she has given up
on finding it...at least until she leaves for college in the Fall
because she is certain that is where she will find the perfect guy to
fit into her perfect world. She plans on Summer being nothing but three
uneventful months of fun, but it turns out to be anything but ordinary
when Payton is introduced to Nick Hawke, one of Jessie’s old
Collinsville friends. She is shocked by her immediate and intense
attraction for “Hawke” because nothing about him is what Payton is
looking for. Sure, he’s hot and sexy but he comes from Collinsville and
that is definitely not on her list of prerequisites. Everything about
him makes Payton’s heart speed because he is exciting and dangerous, but
his fast car and the dangerous chances he takes aren't what scares
Payton the most...it’s the way Nick Hawke makes her feel every time he
looks at her. Can Payton find that moment of total fearlessness and make
the decision to leave the safe, shallow end of love to risk going under
completely?
Fall Guy by Liz Reinhardt
Evan Lennox is going
nowhere fast. She's living with her grandparents after her parents
bailed on her, she got kicked out of her posh private school, her
ex-boyfriend proved to be the biggest sleaze imaginable, her former best
friend is a back-stabber, and her current best friend is stuck in
backwoods NJ. To top it all off, one teeny, tiny fire she lit to burn
some memories of her ex goes a little out of control and winds up
igniting a good piece of a very powerful family's pecan orchard.
Evan
lands her pampered behind in court and gets sentenced to community
service. Which she knows she deserves. But the hard labor and
humiliation may be her undoing.
Until she meets Winchester Youngblood on the site.
Everything
about him is tricky, confusing, not at all what it seems, and so sexy,
Evan can't resist pulling closer. But every step she takes to get to
know him gives her more of a reason to back up and put him as far out of
life as she possibly can. Because Winch is one hundred percent
complicated, and Evan isn't looking for that. At all. She needs to meet a
nice, responsible guy, not share searing kisses with the charming
hustler she met after they both got sentenced in court.
But Winch
is so much more than what he seems, and Evan finds out that she's
falling hard for the guy everyone underestimates and writes off. And
Winch realizes that Evan is the one person who's ever challenged him to
ask for more out of his life, and her courage inspires him to try to be
the person she sees when she looks at him. With every single odd stacked
against them, Evan and Winch need to find out whether they have what it
takes to fall for each other.
I'm looking forward to diving into all of these... when I get a chance :) And can I just say how much I LOVE the cover to 'Fall Guy'. Awesome.
:)
